Definition and Usage
The border shorthand property sets all the border properties in one declaration.
The properties that can be set, are (in order): border-width, border-style, and border-color.
It does not matter if one of the values above are missing, e.g. border:solid #ff0000; is allowed.

Browser Support
The border property is supported in all major browsers.
Note: No versions of Internet Explorer (including IE8) support the property value "inherit".

Value | Description |
---|---|
border-width | Specifies the width of the border. See border-width for possible values |
border-style | Specifies the style of the border. See border-style for possible values |
border-color | Specifies the color of the border. See border-color for possible values |
inherit | Specifies that the value of the border property should be inherited from the parent element |
